Saturday's Situation!

Here is the thing...the situation is this...it's chilly here...we had the AC on last night but today we have on long sleeves and it is beautiful outside but chilly! Really really chilly! But we love this kind of weather! We have put some of the deck furniture inside and lovely leaves are everywhere. We were going to go out to dinner but I just want to cuddle and stay home. The girls are happy about this decision, too. This is the time of year when they want laps! Den had a massive list of stuff to do today but I talked him into binge watching TV! I am a grand convincer!

On our way home from Annapolis we stopped at a Farmer's Market for tons of local produce...we have become hooked on a sliced apple and a bowl of cottage cheese for lunches...I know...it sounds weird but it is so good!

I am making pan fried chicken and roasted butternut squash for dinner! CASA is one of my new favorite blogs!

Finished this book...OMG...it was so good...it was written as though it was poetry/prose? But it wasn't poetry and it was MESMERIZING...8 teens make a horrific choice and have to deal with the aftermath...this book was so good!

Reading this now...Harvard, love, war...it's really good, too!

Ok...back to Binge Watching! Has anyone watched "How To Get Away With Murder" yet? OMG...so good!

Happy Saturday! What's your Saturday Situation?

Friday's Frivolities!

The only problem with two day getaways is that they are two day getaways! Lol!
I have a system now because this is the 5th one we have taken...I keep everything I need in my suitcase...all creams and lotions and potions and tweezers and eyelash curlers and absolutely anything that I use all of the time and have now triplicated! This stuff is bagged in my suitcase and when we decide to go...I just need outfits. It's a perfect plan! And shoes...since we are driving...I pop a basket in the car with every pair I think I might need...if we have car access I just leave the basket in the car and change when I need to...but in Annapolis Den had to bring it in because once we valeted the car...we didn't even touch the car again until we left. In Annapolis there are great cabs, water taxis, shuttles and jitneys! So much fun...this is my quick trip suitcase...this one is at Amazon but I snatched mine from T.J.Maxx and I love it...it has a hard shell and compartments...it's perfect for our mini trips!

Can I just say that we loved Annapolis so much we are heading back in a few weeks?

We mostly just were on our own but this next time we are going to go to the Naval Academy and the Museum...and take a canal tour!

This is the perfect time of year for this kind of travel...there are no crowds!

The only part of the drive I hated was the drive on the bridge over the Chesapeake...it is so high and long and scary...I am not usually bothered by bridges but this one was so long! Look at this bridge! OMG!

So...now we are back to reality...Den is mowing, Lucy just came back from her cold laser treatment, I am sort of cleaning and tidying the house and planning week end football foods...

White chicken chili with big white beans from Bon Appetit!

Creamy enchiladas from Miss In The Kitchen!

Green Minestroni...yum...really sure about this one! This recipe comes from Eats Well With Others!

Just finished this YA fantasy...loved it!

Starting this later...described as a "haunting" tale!

Right now Roxie Blue has me held captive...by sleeping in my lap! They missed us...even though the sitter came in three times in a two day period!

Happy Friday!

Thursday's Tidbits!!!

We were in Annapolis yesterday and today! It is barely a two hour drive for us and I have never been before...it was beautiful and fun!

We had a hoppy beer while I finished Egg And Spoon...by the water...it was lovely!

Then we went to dinner...O'Leary's was wonderful. Den had grouper and I had a soft shell crab and a crab cake over fried green tomatoes.

And we each had one of these! Mine had 6 amazing olives! Two olives at a time...they kept bringing them to me!

The O'Leary Lighted Tea Box!

We were going to go to the Naval Academy but we are saving it for the next time...we shopped instead...for kitty toys and pottery.

We shopped here for handmade kitty toys.

We bought mugs and an olive oil bottle.

We had so much fun until I got mad at Den for parking us in a dungeon underground parking lot to walk way too far because he didn't want to park on the street! Even though while we were walking three ladies stopped me to ask me where I got my shoes...

The shops are all in these old buildings...it remained me of Georgetown but more manageable.

Loved Annapolis!

Love being back home...reading this and clearing hundreds of emails!

Happy Thursday!

Wednesday's Wonders!

This book was so good! It was a lovely English mystery set at a time when people went to Brighton and stayed in great seaside inns and dressed for dinner and danced after dinner! I loved this book starring...Amory Ames...sort of a hot British Miss Marple! This should be a series! She has a "gigolo" husband, Milo, and she solves mysteries...she is an upper class sleuth! I loved this book!

Reading this Russian fantasy now and I love it, too! It's written by the author of Wicked...it's sad but there is humor! I love a little humor mixed in with sadness! It's so much fun!

Happy Wednesday!

Tuesday's Thoughts...

After ordering our life yesterday...not really...I spent a rainy afternoon finishing this chunkster...when I first wanted to read it...I thought it would be a simple fantasy about a retelling of Rapunzel but it was so much more than that! Three stories...over a span of 200 years and beginning in the mid 1600's...one was about Charlotte-Rose de la Force...a writer who was banished to a nunnery. Then we have Margherita...the actual Rapunzel character banished to a tower. And last...there is La Strega...the prostitute/ witch who put Margherita in the tower because she needs her blood to stay youthful. All three women have a connection...

Actually after reading this book I think that being a prostitute was the number one occupation for women in the 1600's...yikes...with being a witch coming in at a close second. This book was extremely good and actually did not feel like a fantasy at all most of the time.

A total switch for me today with this one...a lovely British mystery!

And then back to a fantasy next!

That's my Tuesday! Have a good one!

Monday's Mayhem!!!

Well...mayhem in the sense of putting the house back in order...tidying, cleaning, laundry, dusting, vacuuming...the little things that need to be done to make me feel content! I have kitty toys in every room! Lucy and Roxie both love stuffed tiny toys that they toss, pickup, and move into every room.

And then I need to finish this...a sort of historical fantasy...but I love books that start out with ONCE UPON A TIME...it's supposed to be loosely based on the fairy tale Rapunzel! Yum!

Although I really want to order my mayhem...I am still sipping coffee, watching Doctor Who, reading blogs and not really moving. Den is at the office today so I have the entire day to fix the mayhem.

New books...lovely new books...

Happy Monday! Do you usually order your own mayhem on a Monday or on another day?

Sunday's Schedule!

Newspapers are tossed aside and we are watching SNL...the first new show of the season...our quilts and blankies are out and we are ready for the day...which includes football, Doctor Who ( hopefully ) and popcorn!

Blankies...

Reading this now...

Read this yesterday...it was so good! I actually had to stop and google the main character to see if I was reading a biography! I did discover that the main character was loosely based on Edie Sedgewick...an artist who also died really young.

Whoopsie...we splurged this morning and had Northbrook Farms Apple Cider Doughnuts...a fave in our area...they make chocolate covered, too...Den was supposed to bring home only four...hmmmm...

Want a doughnut?

Happy Sunday!
