The Tale Of Two And A Half Trees!

Other than adding a few more ornaments we are done...we had a a festive dinner out last night...today I am making an oven baked stew...Den is putting the candles in the windows and spotlights in the front and on the side of our house. I might even make some cookies!

Pancakes and ham are prepped for breakfast...because...tomorrow we hit the Mall! We are heading out for the 8:00 opening...sigh! We do this every single year!

Here is our half tree!

Trees...Books...Cookies?

Partly finished...we call this Tree # 1!

Read and reviewed...both were yummy!

Reading this! Another yummy one!

Today we have hair appointments...more tree decorating...and some cookie baking...I hate baking cookies but Den will be sad if I don't...so...I will bake a few!

Roxie is obsessed with my Jingle Bell Garland from Terrain...we had to carefully tack it in! Plus the moment you touch it it tangles...really tangles!

Trees...Books...Trees...

Den has a very very busy day...and an office dinner tonight. That leaves me free to not cook, not clean, not do laundry and not make dinner!

A hire car will pick him up and bring him home later from all of his holiday festivities. The girls and I will put on our jammies and chillax...and decorate the trees! I will start soon...but I am still lazy right now!

That was the tree part...lol...now here is the book part...

I finished this and it was really good...it's Sherlock Holmes and his much younger wife Mary Russell whom everyone calls Russell. I don't have a photo in my head of her but Sherlock us definitely Benjamin Cumberbatch...the BBC's Sherlock...I think that's why I enjoyed this book! It's an odd mix of ninjas and emperors and secrets...I might have to read more Mary Russell books...I quite liked her...

NetGalley delivered some books I can't wait to read...some I have had for a bit but I want to start them soon...especially this first one!

Back to trees...someone in this family stole/gently removed and possibly ate? my reindeer's ears! From my North Woods wooden tree set on top of my pie safe!

From way up here!

Hmmm!

Happy Thursday!

Bare Naked Trees...

Oh my...yesterday...just to recap...we...

...went to Glen Willow for our trees...they were closed for a family funeral...very sad...
...drove farther away to Wolf's...got our trees...
...stopped at Target for multicolored lights...
...stopped at Terrain for ribbon and tiny little fairy lights...
...stopped at Bravo Pizza for a slice...
...held up two trees while Den tried to get them in the stands...
...zipped to Walmart for another tree stand...
...got rid of every piece of tree netting...it is deadly to kitties if they try to eat it...
...vacuumed...pine needles were everywhere and we were dragging them all over...
...had a huge glass of wine while we put on tree lights...
...vacuumed more pine needles...
...had dinner...turkey meatloaf, a roasted potato half, and oven baked beans...all
homemade by me...I am amazing...
...finally told Den where I hid the Christmas cookies and chocolate...
...brushed, soothed and played with two kitties...
...collapsed in bed with our iPads and TV...
...fell asleep in minutes...woke up wired at one ish...

The trees...undecorated...Den's colored lights...

Patty's tasteful white lights...

I have to say there is something sweet about two trees...

Today I am finishing up outside...boughs, holly, ribbons...I love doing this part!

View from the kitchen...

Patty's handmade pillows on a bench in the entry...

I still have bins to unpack...but...I love it! It was a little bit of a shock to us that Den could carry in each tree without help...he could easily lift them into their stands...and it was fun to change things up...after I finish the outside I will hang some ornaments...oh...it's also fun to be able to see the trees all of the time!

Happy Wednesday! Reading? Not a thing...lol!

So...Who Had The Brilliant Idea Of Getting Two Trees?

Actually I think I did...but...we have always had really tall trees...the sun room is at least 20 feet to the tippy top so we always got the tallest trees ever! Then depending on our mood we might put the tree in the living room...but still we would get a tree that was at least 9 feet tall...they were always beautiful but amazingly hard to get home, wrestle into the house and into the stand. Plus...of course...I am the designated holder while Den tries to get it into the stand...ick!

So...this year we actually have three trees...a baby live Fraser Fir in the bay window in Den's study...and a 6 1/2 foot live Fraser Fir in the corner of the family room and a 6 1/2 foot live Fraser Fir in the sun room...whew!

So...we thought that this would be so easy to do...we already have tree stands...and tons of lights and ornaments...but...the stands were too big for the trees! It was nightmarish and Den had to run out for different stands...but...we are now a 2 and 1/2 tree family...Den has new colored lights on the sunroom tree and I have lovely white lights on the family room tree and we are still almost speaking to each other! Barely! Almost! Sort of!

Our trees were born here! Love their sign!

Trees stuffed in the rig!

Separated by two trunks!

We got cookies! They had cookies...sugar cut outs and ginger spice at the tree store!
Den dropped them and now we have cookie pieces!

Is this safe? Driving with all these trees in the car?

Happy Tuesday!

Oh...when I am awake...I am reading this!

The Busiest Day Ever!

Dentist, lunch, nails...I have been away since 9 this morning! Just running around the town! Having fun but getting tired...very very tired! It's now almost four and I am trying to calm down two very irritated kitties...Roxie is doing somersaults on the floor...
Lucy is fixated on any piece of fake greenery attached to anything in this house...she does this every Christmas...she never forgets...and she seems to know which Santa has the most green stuff on it...it's amazing.

Literary stuff...

Still reading this...and again it is so good...but I continue to put it down to finish stuff I need to review...but I love this book and its fierce heroine! I mostly read this in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.

These are new from NetGalley...I can't wait to read them all...

Happy Monday!

Finally...Christmas!

Den did the best thing ever for me yesterday...he was in the basement...he said to prep for me to climb into the crawlspace to get out the Christmas bins...but he asked me to give him a few minutes before I came down...he said so he could make a clear space for the bins.

Getting the bins is a nasty dusty job...I have to climb up a ladder, crawl into the crawlspace...and slide the bins to the opening so Den can lift them down to the regular basement. We do it every year and we both hate it! But...when I got to the basement Den had the bins all out...and ordered...light bins in one spot, ornaments in another, Santas, snowmen and every holiday bin was placed so that it was easy to get to...I worked inside...Den outside...and we collapsed at 6 ish...whew! I still do not know how he managed it by himself! But we did it!

Today...we went to Terrain for twinkly lights for the mantel...and wreaths! Terrain wreaths are so beautiful! We need two...one for the front door and one for in between garage doors...only Den thought the sign said $58.00 when it actually said $78.00...which really means that someone needs to wear his contacts all of the time!

Tomorrow we are getting our trees...we think rather than one big one we will get two
mediums...we will see...we have hateful dentist appointments tomorrow...we will get our trees right after them.

Terrain star lights!

Happy Sunday!
