Too Much Trauma...

I just read two really good but two really depressing books in a row. My head is spinning. This one was just a difficult book to read and spanned about 300 years as well as the future...so depressing. I thought it was a beach book. Sigh!
Schizophrenia is the issue here and drugs and meds...a little girl living with an emotionally disturbed mother...this one is really enlightening and really depressing...sigh!
I need fantasy, failed romance or failed relationships! Even feverish love would help! Maybe a simple serial killer on the loose?
Up next!
Happy Saturday!
Den just zipped to Country Butcher for Porchetta Sandwiches and a frozen lemonade for lunch...small steaks for dinner with tons of roasted veg!

Friday Fun...

These two have started early. They have no true concept of being outside...or what I need to do to get them there...the tent, the pillows, making sure they are in shade, and minutes after we are out they want back in again...

But...until we go out they pace, they stare, they jump in and out of my lap...sigh! Lucy wails...Roxie chirps...and I beg for mercy! If we decide to stay in this house we are screening in the other deck. If we move...we are making sure we have a screened in porch. Then all I have to do is open a door...but will their kitty brains think that a screened in porch is not really outside? As I type this they are both staring at me!

Finished this but for me it was just ok...sigh!

Just started this... no opinion formed yet...
Love these summery tops...well...maybe this one is still black but it has short sleeves...lol...this is from UO.
This is from Free People...
This is from UO...
Making this...Salmon Nicoise...from Epicurios!
Someone is still trying to wait me out...

We were so busy last week end that we made no plans this week end...staying home and reading and watching catch up TV is on our agenda. Probably planting more flowers if we get out...
Happy Friday!

Thursday's Thoughts...

Reading this...kind of yummy...

Finished these...very yummy...can I just use yummy to describe books I love?
Boo was so good and such a surprise. Nerdy Oliver "Boo" Dalrymple is dead and we follow his life in heaven...which is strange and weird but incredibly fascinating. Boo loves the periodic table and has spent most of his 13 years being tormented and bullied...what a book!
Loved this book...Thomas digs up graves with his dad. They find stuff to sell so they can eat...but one night he sort of digs up himself...and an adventure begins...this book was fun and sweet and delightful! There is something very special and other worldly about Thomas!
Just got this...I love this cover!
Planting...every time we go out we grab more flowers...popping plants in pots daily!
Eating...pasta for dinner! This recipe comes from a new food blog I follow and looks so delicious! It has all of this yummy stuff in it! Mmmmmm...
Making real garlic bread...there is a new baker in town...he bakes daily...puts all of the bread out on a huge counter...you help yourself...but...every baking day is a surprise!
Happy Thursday!

Wednesday's Whims?

An unscheduled day...what do we do? We have wanted to see The Avengers...but can't get in the mood. We should go get plants to plant...not in that mood either. I am not sure what I am in the mood for...I am mood less today. The train that derailed last night is the train that we take to get to NYC...really scary.

Reading this...it is so sweet...Oliver is dead and in some sort of heaven...he thinks he died from a hole in his heart but when another classmate appears...he learns a different story.

Yummy food to grill...

Love this...found it on FB...plus I want to use verisimilitude in my life...but how? I like the words cleave...squabble...winsome...and my all time fave...gumption! They are from Goodwill Librarian...

Peace out readers! Off to read! And contemplate...and wear something resplendent!

Take A Break Tuesday!

I am not really doing anything important today...reading, blogging, relaxing...trying to explain to Roxie Blue that her Aunt Paula had to go home...she sits on the guest room bed and looks in the guest bath...no Aunt Paula! So sad!

Just finished this...I loved this book! Loved it...sometimes you need a sweet story...still filled with dysfunctional characters...in this case these characters run an inn in Tennessee...with a peach orchard...of course. You also need some mean guys (adulterous ex husbands and abusive boyfriends) and one good guy gone bad but gone good again...and a lost son and a sizzling love interest...that is just beginning to sizzle! Toss in wealthy parents and a happy ever after hopefully and you have an amazing beach book! With peach ice tea! I mean iced tea with peach slices floating in it...I am so doing that this summer!
Up next...
So excited to acquire these...thank you, Ti , for sharing!
That is all I have! Happy Tuesday!

So...It's A Rainy Monday!

Is there such a thing as having too much fun? I think not...we had a yummy week end and now we are sipping some wine and pretty much incapable of any movement.

Reading this...a very legal thriller...

Looking forward to these..."The first book in a major new series from the #1 internationally bestselling author Lucinda Riley."

I have read all of his books!
From Amazon..." Dark, witty, and suspenseful, this literary crime thriller reminiscent of The Dinner and The Silent Wife follows a famous author whose wife—the brains behind his success—meets an untimely death, leaving him to deal with the consequences."

Back to my book! Happy Monday! Roxie spent every minute of her time this week end with my sister Paula...she even slept with her! Now Roxie is exhausted, too!

It's A Mixing Bowl Of Memories!

It feels so good to be with my sister for Mother's Day. We get to talk just a little bit about our mom...we get to rehash shared experiences...I remember her as a toddler...she remembers me as her "big" sister. Our mom dressed us alike for so many occasions. I remember the feel of the dresses...the tiny flowered prints...the ruffles and flounces...and always folded over white sox and shiny strapped shoes that we bought at the Buster Brown shoe store. I remember my sister Paula's soft golden curly hair. We both always had bangs cut crookedly by our mom. I remember holding her hand and walking to the store where she somehow won a massive Sugar Daddy Caramel whatever it was. I remember being allowed to take her to the park and then I lost her...only to discover that a neighbor saw her and took her home...not knowing she was with me. Paula and Patty...Patty and Paula...my mom interchanged our names all of the time. My sister and I learned to ski together on short skis in Cleveland! My mom and I would visit her when she was at Nursing College and we would go to lunch at Cleveland delis. My sister and I shared a room until she left for college and then marriage. I was neat...she was incredibly messy. I could talk her into almost anything...painting all of our bedroom furniture yellow was my brainstorm. OMG! We had matching bikes...pink ones! We both loved Nancy Drew and the Bobbsey Twins and new tablets. When I see my sister Paula...I see some of my mom and dad. When I see my sister Paula...I feel us holding on to our parents and I don't feel so alone any more. I am so glad that I got to spend this time with her.
