A Saturday Pop Up!

Reading and loving this book...it's pearls and private school and lake houses in the Adirondacks and jobs in NYC and Lily Pullitzer dresses and regattas and Edith Wharton and so much more! Oh...and cream cheese and olive paste on water crackers...love this book!

My bug bite...it was so much worse!
Roxie Blue's why are you going out to dinner face...she is not allowed on the island...lol...
We are so hooked on lettuce sandwiches...but they gave to be on Pepperidge Farm white bread...but...when you eat these you are starving an hour later!
Lucy's new napping spot...
I still haven't driven my new car...I am a little afraid of it!
Happy Weekend!

Friday's "Phenoms"...

Finished this...like Twilight only better! There will be more!

Reading this...OMG...this debut? It just sounds so good! Old money...class distinctions...diving in!
Interesting foods? Not sure! All recipes are from Bonappetit!
Lasagna with greens and a white sauce!
An old Italian dish called Meatballs with Sauce and Green Beans...sometimes potatoes are subbed out for the meatballs. Can't be eaten without crusty chewy bread!
Enchilada Pie! Chili topped with a cornbread crust...Den has asked for this for tomorrow.
Lazy days in the sunroom...
Want to see this...

Date night!
Happy Friday!

Totally Thursday...

Hmmm...lunching with school friends today! They are the library ladies at my former school! We always have so much fun...I am bringing a mixed berry pie from Nomadic Pies!

It's a very steamy muggy hazy stormy day here today...not a nice day to be outside!

Reading this...I haven't liked a half demon half vampire this much since Edward from Twilight! I love this book...it is filled with charming snarky humor!

Want these...cool gauzy summery frocks!
Free People...hmmm...I might have accidentally pushed the buy button on this one!
This is the same "frock" in black! Yummy for dinner at night!
Love this one, too, from UO...simple, comfy, easy to wear!
That's my Thursday...prepping for lunch...picking up pies...back home later to read and relax! Just like these two...my sweet by my side always babies...

Happy Thursday!

Workin' My Way Through A Mess Of Books!

Reading these over the next few days...

From Amazon...""A sharp, perceptive novel about family and forgiveness, Whiskey & Charlie will stay with me for a very long time." Christina Baker Kline, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Orphan Train."

From Amazon..."Behind the glamorous facade of elite Belgian society lies a seedy world unseen by the public eye—but nothing stays hidden forever."

From Amazon..."After losing both her parents before age 17, aspiring designer Caitlin Holte feels like her whole world has been turned upside down, and that was before the terrifying encounter with a supernatural force. Then, she learns that her hot bad-boy neighbor, Adrian--who might have just saved her life--is actually a half-demon vampire.

Suddenly Caitlin is stuck with a vampire bodyguard who feels that the best way to protect her is to become her pretend boyfriend. Trouble is, Caitlin is starting to fall in love for real, while Adrian can never love a human. Caitlin trusts Adrian to keep her safe from his demon father, but will he be able to protect her heart?" Yum!

From Amazon...""A masterful tale of social climbing and entrenched class distinctions, as seen through the eyes of an outsider who desperately wants in. Tense, hilarious, and bursting with gorgeous language. Stephanie Clifford is a 21st-century Edith Wharton." -J. Courtney Sullivan, New York Times bestselling author of The Engagements."
Next up...two things...one good...one not so good...
We got our new car and they gave me an iPad mini! It's so cute! But it was sad saying good bye to my car...I loved it!
Something bit my arm in the night! I felt a pinch but I thought I was dreaming! Now I have an itchy red bump on my arm! Den is freaking me out about it but it really doesn't hurt...again...I seriously thought I was dreaming! We have searched the entire house and installed a bug zapper electronic thing but we are both afraid of what might be lurking in the dark and out to get us!
Yikes!
Happy Wednesday!

It's All About The Books!

I just read this book yesterday...I cannot tell you how beautifully written and sad it was...small town Alabama girls, an outsider, social media and bullying!

Reading this now...really good...Grace says that God is her baby's father!
Thinking about these yummy drinks...Pomegranate Lemonade from Totally The Bomb.
Vietnamese Coffee from Bonappetit!
Bloody Mary variations from Serious Eats!
Off to read! Den and I are going to make Vietnamese Iced Coffees momentarily!
Happy Tuesday that really feels like Monday!

Monday Memories!

In the town I grew up in there was always a Memorial Day Parade...but in the town I grew up in...there were tons of parades! These parades always seemed to involve my high school's band...and veterans...the mayor...bicycles...fire trucks...Girl Scouts...and people throwing wrapped candies...which my mom would not allow us to eat...and baton twirlers! My bestest friend ever...Mary Jo...was a baton twirler! Me...not so much...twirling formally scared me! Lol! But I loved watching MJ twirl and throw! She was tall and lean and awesome! And the parade always ended in the park with soldiers shooting guns at...probably not at...probably up in the air...the town's Memorial Monument! Then we all walked home for a cookout!

My town...the high school...my town is known for being..." Ohio's Finest Village".

The football stadium...
The Administration Building...
Lots of blocks of cute little houses...all with tons of beautifully built in shelves and cabinets...all different...big wide streets where I rode my bike endlessly!

The best pizza ever...
The gazebo in the park...
The fire station...
There is probably a parade and up in the air gun shooting going on there right now! Sigh!
We are going to feast on typical picnic foods today!
Pioneer Woman's Mexican Pasta Salad!
Siesta Keys Key Lime Pie...so easy...so good!
Have a wonderful Monday!

Sunday Stuff!!!

Why is it that books about Maine are so appealing to me? We have spent so much time in Maine over the years...so when things that are so familiar to me are mentioned in a book I love...my heart literally jumps up and says...yes! I know that! Tiny blueberries, osprey nests, lobstah, art galleries, Richard Russo books in every book store...ramps and fiddleheads and freezing cold water and rocky beaches and wearing a thick hoodie in the middle of the summer and chowdahs and thick fish soups...yum! Lobster rolls from a long long line at Red's...and so much more! We have eaten these!

I love this book! Quirky characters...lush islands...even a kitty! It was impeccable! Loved every single word! Picture this...an island...no cars...breathtaking views...a ferry...no wifi...a farmer's market on a boat every Monday! Hat parties...plus...the "cottage" is so big it even has a dormitory room and turrets and trunks filled with surprises! And I did mention those quirky yummy characters...Caroline the actress, Lottie the sweet one, Rose the unsettled one, and Beverly...the peckish and sad one...who stole the coffee maker for his room! Oh this book has stolen my Maine loving heart!
With that...I am off to the deck to join Den and the girls!
Happy Sunday!
