Pretending It's Friday...

I seem to be a day late for everything this week! This was going to be my Friday post and I forgot all about it! I have spent most of today going through bins in the basement. But now we have a system...I de bin the bins...Den then puts everything in bags and boxes for a March 18th Big Brother Pick Up.

These bins are a history of my life as a teacher! I can't tell you how many pairs of holiday socks I found! My classrooms were either too hot or too cold! So I have light sweaters, heavy sweaters and even holiday sweaters! I have more mittens and hats for outdoor recess than I can count! Then I have sundresses and cardigans for hot weather! Plus boot socks with ruffles at the top that would stick out over my boot tops! And I had jumpers! I used to love wearing these jumpers with turtlenecks underneath them...and my ruffled socks and my lace up boots! And again...a sweater or decorated sweatshirt for every single holiday! All I did when I stopped teaching was shove everything in bins and sneak them down to the basement! I always thought that I would deal with them later! Oh...the brand names on the labels are hysterical...Laura Ashley, Cotton Rainbow, Fresh Produce, Fitigues, Allen Allen and all my non school stuff was Eileen Fisher. I found a huge bin filled with workout wear and another filled with swimsuits. This stuff is freaking me out!

OMG!

I didn't think I was a saver and you can't imagine what the basement looks like right now...sort of an ordered chaos. But Den says once we pack everything in bags, boxes and bins neatly...it will all make sense. I hope so!

Slightly freaking out!

We are taking a break and then going back down to finish...

Other stuff...

Reading this...so good!

And this...soooo good...

I am off until Monday!

Back to my bins!

Hugs,

Patty

A Bevy Of Books...

This book was a sweet Middle Grade book about life and death and all of the issues in between. Odette is taken out of her happy place when her parents decide to sell everything that makes their life comfortable to buy a motor home. They then decide to travel cross country to visit Odette's dying grandmother. It's a lovely book about a special family. Nothing seems to work for Odette as she learns how to deal with a puppy that's not the one she wants, sharing one cell phone and an autistic annoying brother.

Reading this now...I hate this cover and I thought that would make me hate the book...I know this is petty but sometimes some arcs have awful covers that make me want to not read the book...are covers that important? Yes...I think they are! I even hate when a Kindle book has an awful cover. Rain...we agree with this one...right?

But...this kind of dystopian fantasy is really good...it's "I can't put it down" good. It reminds me of The Night Circus...which I loved!

Some new books from yesterday...Amazon and NetGalley...you rock! I can't wait to dive into the beachy one and Sweetbitter? Here is Goodread's blurb...

A lush, raw, thrilling novel of the senses about a year in the life of a uniquely beguiling young woman, set in the wild, alluring world of a famous downtown New York restaurant...

This was Thursday's post which I forgot to post so I will pop in again later today!

The Temperature Is Rising!

The weather was awesome here last night! We tossed off the duvet, put a lighter quilt on our bed, turned on the ceiling fan and even slept with the windows open!

It's time to think about sandals!

I am really thinking about them. I just pre ordered a pair. These are from Free People and Nordstrom's. I think I want them all!

Books...lovely new books! I am in a reading frenzy! I am reading arcs and ebooks...I love reading ebooks in the middle of a sleepless night. I have even taught Den to do this! He is deep into Flight of Dreams...I am loving the Immortals...and here are some new ones from Edelweiss and NetGalley!

Today is the one hour plus one minute drive for our hair appointments. I have really cut down on appointments because of this drive and it works out perfectly. We are actually driving farther yet spending less money on better hair care!

So far...it works for us!

Have an awesome day!

Patty

Tea And A Meaty Pie?

I love English mystery writers...Deborah Crombie and her Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James books...I have read every one of these...the dogs, the boys, English tea! Jacqueline Winspear and all of her Maisie Dobbs books are faves. Elizabeth George and Inspector Lynley...again...I love these books.

But I have a special fondness for Alex Grecian and his Murder Squad. Sordid conditions, the beginnings of a sort of CSI, and the constant threat of Jack...I love these books. In his newest one Walter Day has been abducted by Jack for a year! It takes a second to get back into these and I love every word.

These books really should be read in order to get their full glorious effect!

Most of these books are always in foggy London, there are always street urchins, meat pies, tea, vermin and of course Jack...that would be Jack The Ripper.

Pictures in my head always look like this. I don't think Victorian England smells particularly good, either. People always seem to hold handkerchiefs over their noses and foods spoil quickly. Yikes!
But that and Evil Jack and the suspense are what makes these books so good!

So...I am deep into his newest one and loving it! I hope it's the end of Jack and his very sharp razor.

Other stuff!

Den is totally finished with his Invisilign braces today. His teeth are beautiful!

Between the two of us we have had three braces interventions. I wore braces twice...Den once. Today he gets his bottom teeth wired on the inside and an impression for his top teeth retainer...to be worn forever!

How are we going to celebrate! Den is going to chew gum for the first time in 3 years! I bought him his very own pack! Invisilign braces are relatively easy but the delight in not having to wear them...is incredible!

We are staying home today...all day long. It's going to be 70 here this afternoon. Kitties are ready for a walk around the 'hood!

Roxie thinks this is how we will roll...heeheehee!

Have a great day!

Patty

Books! And A Few Thoughts!

I finished this...kind of disappointing even though I loved their first one...

Finished this one and loved it. It's an engaging intriguing mystery that comes together in an amazing way. It takes place in the 1990's but is heavily into flashbacks of the beginning of Hitler's regime.

I really loved this book.

Reading this now...I love this author and this series. Set in 1889 London and usually Jack The Ripper is in at least one of his books!

Also reading this at night on my Paperwhite...present day murder cases in NYC involving gods and goddesses who aren't as "immortal" as they used to be. I love the mythological references and this is a trilogy!

I made this oven baked chicken yesterday...easy and amazingly delicious!

That's it! I am so off of my schedule today that I may not catch up!
Have an awesome day!
Have you begun to notice all the amazing sandals that are popping up?
Think flatforms!

Patty
