This Book!

This book has literally taken me by surprise! What would you do if you suddenly learned that your loving husband of ten years has been having an affair...with a lovely young man? I love the writing in this book as Care tries to pick up the pieces of her life. It's so juicy and just so good.

And this one...from Amazon...

“Deftly rendered in beautiful prose, narrated through three shifting time lines woven into an interconnected history of duty, honor, and magic. . . . This is a must-have for all those who value a good read with genuine character growth, mystery, unique world-building, adventure, unyielding bonds of loyalty, and pirates. . . . A fresh, diverse fantasy; highly recommended for fans of Cornelia Funke’s Inkheart and female-powered adventures.”—School Library Journal, starred review...

I Should Be Taking A Sick Day!

What I learned today...when you have an iodine IV...your body heats up and it feels as though you have to pee...but you really don't!

That was a good thing!

Also I had a cat scan...not an MRI.

I met so many sweet people today!

Oh...and drinking two huge glasses of water mixed with some weird barium thing...made my stomach swell up!

So...I have put myself on bed rest for the day...actually my girls ordered it!

They are so sweet...they were surrounding me earlier in their little kitty circle!

Reading this and resting...just a yummy MG book about dinosaurs and true love!

Patty

Antsy?

Read this today...it's a very insightful novel on bullies and bullying...written by someone who works with troubled teens...

Workers are still pounding, painting and staining...and it is incredibly hot here and will stay that way all week.

MRI tomorrow and I have to drink something and have an iodine IV! I am more than mildly freaking out!

Up next...I will let you know more about this book tomorrow!

I have not been the best blogger lately...all I can do is say sorry!

Patty

We Retreat!

Our deck is being power washed and getting prepped for staining. It's noisy and the girls and I have again retreated to our room. We have iPads, Kindles and stacks of books...Jessica Fletcher is on in the background...helping the police in places other than Cabot Cove...I didn't realize that she solves mysteries everywhere! Fashion shows in Paris, plays in London, ranches in Colorado, and all over NYC...when a body drops...Jessica is right there to help! But she really only bakes pies in Cabot Cove...when she is in NYC she uses a bakery.

Just finished this...loved it! Lakes, lake houses, two sisters with sort of normal problems...reading this book was so relaxing!

Not sure what I am reading next...

Maybe one of these?

Off to try to chill...

Hugs,

Patty

Memories...

The other day one of my nieces was packing for a road trip and shared this photo.

Sandwiches...simple sandwiches...wrapped in waxed paper so perfectly and so tightly that they stayed this way until unwrapped.

So...this is my dad and he is responsible for some of my family members knowing how to wax paper wrap sandwiches. My lunch sandwiches were always wrapped like this but of course I never paid attention to the process...it's just what my dad did...that and grow amazing tomatoes.

Whenever we would travel back home to our house from trips to see my mom and dad...we always had a stash of waxed paper wrapped sandwiches and other goodies to eat on the way home. We would always tell my dad not to bother but he was already cutting slices from roasts and getting out the Cheffo D'Urso soft Italian bread and wrapping up those sandwiches.

It usually took Den about an hour or two into the drive to ask me where my dad's sandwiches were...soft bread...roast beef or roast pork..mustard...these sandwiches were unbelievable.

I don't know why July 4th makes me miss him more than any other holiday...I guess because he loved it so much...fireworks, his children home, lots of food and plenty of leftovers for those waxed paper wrapped sandwiches!

Happy July 4th!

Hugs,

Patty
