I now have an official domain and my blog will post from Wordpress!  I am still working on formatting.  Wordpress is not at all like my beloved Blogsy but I will adjust!  I had tremendous help from friends with far greater transporting skills than I have...I was BLESSED!

I have no have no clue how to add photos, links, indentations...all of the things I love about blogging...so please bear with me.  Thank you so much...this experience has made me realize how much I love to write about stuff and how happy it makes me when you read it and take the time to comment!

Blogsy And Blogger both stopped working today.  Apple had a huge update yesterday that got rid of
them...they can’t work on the new update...so...I am scrambling.  I will figure out something and be back as soon as I can!

What To Read Over The Week End!

Sometimes seasons affect what I read...Fall and Winter make me seek out hefty sturdy stick to your ribs chunksters...books that go along with the soups in my slowcooker. But I am really having a difficult time choosing the next book I want to read. I think that what I really want to do is just keep on reading all of the Miss Seeton books...in order...I think. I have also been just a little tired and cranky...sorry, Den. And then Lucy is sick again...vet this morning and we are supposed to keep her isolated for a day or two while med's kick in. So she is in the bathroom upstairs while Roxie sits outside the bathroom door crying for her. I really do have a headache. We were going to walk on our trail today...go to the farm for produce and then go to lunch. We have done none of that. Right now we are in the family room, reading with Diagnosis Murder on in the background listening to both Lucy and Roxie crying. Sigh!

Oh...we are doing laundry, too...even more fun.

What I am reading are these...they are sort of thick and chunky.

We are making fish sandwiches for dinner with crispy baked oven fries...sort of a fish and chips healthy knock off...

I want to make a slow cooker soup on Sunday! It's chilly here!

I have this weird craving for a Beef And Barley Soup...like the one I used to eat for lunch every day from Campbells!

Diagnosis Murder is getting pretty intense...the kitties are finally sleeping...as

My Cats Love Them Some Paula...Plus Book Thoughts, Too!

My girls refused to leave my sister alone on her visit. My sister is not a cat person. But they insisted on convincing her that she should love them. Roxie seriously somersaulted into my sister's arms about a hundred times. When she wasn't somersaulting she was nudging the back of my sister's hair. We would ask her where Paula was and she would get excited and prance around to find her. She followed Paula everywhere. Elder kitty Lucy just wanted to be next to her. Such is the mystery of cats! Den and I were not important to them while my sister Paula was here. Usually they sleep in my room and only come downstairs when they need food. But they both kept late hours...and commandeered the sofa...so they were right next to her. At one point I went to bed and Lucy...who always is with me...stayed downstairs on a pillow next to my sister Paula!

Reading...

Finished this...I am in love with this series...I thought I wanted a break from the quirky citizens of Plummergen but I sort of zipped right into the second one.

 

Reading this, too, but it's not a good idea to read two mysteries at the same time.

Other stuff...

I had this idea that one big bed would be better for Lucy and Roxie rather than their individual beds...but...it was a bad idea because all it did was provide Roxie with an easy way to somersault into Lucy's fragile bones and torment her...so...we sent the bed home to cousin Izzy...who seems to love it! Luckily Amazon Vine tossed this massive bed in my queue. My sister's grandson loves it, too. He told his mom he was sleeping in it with Izzy!

Lucy and Roxie are sleeping on my bedroom reading chair on top of a kitty heating pad and 6 pillow shams. It seems to be working for them. We had to take their beds away because although both were identical...they were fighting over them and only wanted to sleep in one...but they both wanted the same one! I don't get it at all but with the beds gone they aren't fighting. But Lucy claimed the pillow and they won't switch sides. Kitties are complicated!

Garage doors are being installed...all day long today!

I am off to walk on the treadmill...then read and perhaps knit this from last year...a kit I never started! From weareknitters!

Football...Knitting...Books...

Football is highly conducive to knitting. My sister knits during football and talks to the TV...much like Den...without the knitting. We literally stayed in on Saturday and Sunday...other than walks and church...because my sister Paula loves football. Den loves football. Patty, Lucy and Roxie...do not love football but I read, played games and occasionally begged off and went upstairs to my room to watch the Hallmark Channel...I was desperate to watch anything other than football. I didn't even care how hokey it was. I also knew my sister wanted to take care of me. She had preprepped dinners...we had carnitas in a bowl one night...tiny ham and cheese sliders on Saturday and an Italian sauce that had a roast in it...she cooks it for hours on top of the stove until the meat falls apart. I have recipes for everything! The roast sauce involves chopping carrots and celery and garlic and onions but I have Weggieman's...and their prechopped stuff! I love it...Den and I also squirreled away all of the leftovers...we have a carnita dinner and two roast sauce dinners in the freezer. Plus...she brought us two Briar Hill Pizzas...it's the pizza from our little Ohio town and it cannot be duplicated anywhere...they are also in the freezer!

This is a Briar Hill Pizza...the only cheese is grated Parmesan cheese and it always has peppers on it. It's kind of like a Philadelphia tomato pie but not really.

Knitting!

My sister bought more yarn today and started a new project. We went to a yarn store in Chesapeake City...on the water...we had crab cakes for lunch at the Bayard House. Chesapeake City is a sweet little town right on the water.

Friday Fun...

We just came in from a road trip with my sister Paula! We went to a yarn shop in Lancaster and then out to lunch. My sister Paula loves yarn shops! She loves to knit. The yarn shop we went to had different kinds of locally dyed yarns. My sister and I are alike in certain ways and not alike in certain ways. We always need to buy things in threes...when we like something we become OBSESSED about it. She is in the family room knitting with her new yarn. I am in shock because she paid $35.00 for one skein of yarn and she needed 4 skeins...she is into knitting shawls and wraps on tiny little needles. Right now she is sitting next to me on the sofa...counting and clicking away! When we were in the yarn shop it was as though she and the proprietor were talking an entirely different language...the language of yarn! I had no clue what they were talking about.

Tomorrow will be a day of college football. We will walk in the morning and watch football for the rest of the day...and we will eat! My sister brought so much food...carnitas and sauce and stuff for tiny little sandwiches. It is so amazing to have her here...I really did need to see her!

We are kind of wiped out after our morning...everyone is in their own little spot resting...or knitting.

Books!

I started the first Miss Seeton book...and it is even better than the one I just read. I love the way the original author introduces Miss Seeton. Everything is so sweet and so clear! Miss Seeton inherits her little house in Plummergen and everyone is curious about her and why she is there...it's just such a fun series! I think I will just read and read while football is on.

So today was a busy day...

And the weekend promises to be busy, too!

This Book Could Be Dangerous To Your Sleep!

This book sneaked up on me...seriously...as I mentioned yesterday...it's slow yet steady...has some sexy bits...has some freaky bits...but is such a good story. I woke up at 3:30 this morning and rather than just turning over and going back to sleep I reached for my Kindle...and read until 5:30 and finished it...again...it is just a good story. It takes place in Maine...one of the characters owns a bookstore...I love that real mysteries were mentioned as well as why to read them...and the books mentioned are mostly kind of older classics! I don't want to over analyze it...it was just enjoyable! I can't believe I never read his work before. I have Den reading it now!

 

So...my sister Paula is coming tomorrow...it's my bad that I would not let her come during this past awful year. But she is driving in tomorrow from McDonald, Ohio...the town we grew up in. She loves college football and yarn shops. She and her husband travel all over the world. She lives next door to her daughter and is always there for her four grandchildren...when she is in town. When she comes we are usually on the move all of the time. We like to pamper her and take her to yarn shops and out to dinner.

But...we will do all that but not dinner at night. Lunches are good but I am just not ready to go out to dinner...it's the hair thing. She has been cooking all week and is bringing lots of surprises. It's her way to take care of me plus all of the hats she knitted me all year. I can't wait to see her...to see family!

So...Den is recleaning her room...we always call it Paula's room. And he is recleaning her bathroom. We are ready for Paula!

Slow But Steady...

That's what this book is...with the end of every chapter...I just want to go on to the next one. I fell asleep last night clutching my Kindle. Yum!

Plus...it follows that "then" and "now" pattern that I love so much!

 

I am obsessed with this cookbook. The author lives in Colorado and is 21 years old!

This was dinner last night...a Broccoli Chickeny Quinoa Bake...we loved it!

One pan...you don't even have to precook the quinoa although I was freaking out because I thought it wasn't cooking...it did.

I love this look. But I doubt I would wear it off of my deck. Tevas...I did get those slippery shoes and they are amazing. I got them for Den, too.

 

 

Roxie will hold onto Lucy...any way she can!

I cannot link! My poor blog is terribly broken...I have to get serious about changing over to Wordpress...I seriously do but I continue to put it off! I wasted time this morning trying to figure out some of this stuff and I still end up posting on a broken blog. I am at a loss because it looks as though I have a Wordpress blog but it has a weird name. Sigh! I may have to hire a professional blog fixer!

 

I just had to buy this cookbook. Tieghan Gerard is a food blogger. I love her blog and now I love her cookbook. It's beautiful and filled with amazing foods! Her story is fascinating! Her blog name is Half Baked Harvest.

That's it for me...it's now 12:21 and I have accomplished nothing. My sister is coming on Thursday and Den is downstairs washing the windows in the sunroom and I have done nothing.

So...The Week's End Is Here!

So...Den and I can be very lazy! We put off errands until we can't put them off any more. Today we needed to get this stuff done...

Costco...new landline phones and a bunch of other stuff we probably could live without.

Rothman...my kneees are hurting and so are my ankles...Den has shoulder issues...so...we need Rothman and their sports medicine doctors.

T.J. Maxx...a quick run through for sheets...because...you just never know when you will be lucky there! We found one set of 800 count ones...they are in the dryer now and feel yummy! We also found coffee there...it is so delicious. The aisle on your way to the register is filled with yummy things! It's dangerous!

Trader Joe's...their pumpernickel bread and sour dough are our new faves. We also love their eggs and their turkey bacon...

Honey Glow...a new restaurant that only serves fresh and local stir fries and salads. Get this...there is no refrigerator there...you order on a laptop and can customize anything. It was our first time there...so we were AWKWARD...getting started. I ordered a Tuna White Bean Salad...Den had a Red Curry Stir Fry...both were amazing. So everyone told us to order the Honey Glow...fresh fruits topped with coconut or granola or chocolate chunks...some how either we goofed or they did and we ended up with a bowl of granola topped in coconut pieces! Unreal!

Books...

Reading these...

I haven't been reading tons this week...not sure why...sometimes it's sort of nice to have a book break!

The weekend is very low key...just football and popping something in the slow cooker...and getting a slice of carrot cake from Magnolia Bakery...a walk and perhaps lunch out?
